Aldelia is recruiting a Head of Finance Department for Montepuez.
Summary:
To organize, manage and oversee all finance operations at the company, including implementing and refining policies, procedures and strategies to optimize all aspects of security. This person will also act as Finance Controller to other Group Projects in the same concession.
Reporting to the General Manager and with a dotted line reporting to the Regional Finance Manager and the Finance Director from the Group, responsible for Mozambique, will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the achievement of financial objectives for the respective group companies based in Mozambique.
The primary purpose is to provide for each respective Business Unit key financial, accounting and commercial expertise to support operations through effective and efficient establishment and management of financial systems and procedures, tax and treasury, compliance with reporting, accounting and relevant legal requirements in Mozambique.
Responsibilities:
Financial performance, policies and procedures:
- Oversee and manage the finance and accounting functions of the respective Business Units and ensure these are in compliance with Company and Group procedures, policies and local country legislation;
- Oversee, review and develop systems and processes to ensure they effectively and efficiently support business objectives and that a cost effective, timely and accurate service is provided to the relevant Business Units;
- Motivation, development and management of the finance teams to ensure efficient and effective team performance;
- Effective management and control of consumable and production inventory for the respective Business Units;
- Provision of timely and accurate key monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual management and financial information/reports i.e. management and statutory accounts/reports, forecasts and any other required analysis/information;
- Coordinate and ensure the financial budgets and forecasts are prepared and monitor, review and report respective company performance against budget on a monthly basis, cost monitoring, and providing support to achieve the financial and commercial objectives of the relevant Business Units;
- Ensure compliance with all statutory authorities and audit requirements and all related audit close and relationship management.
Tax and treasury:
- Effective management of local taxation, identify and implement tax efficiencies, consider and analyze impact of any existing and new tax legislations (including transfer pricing, tax and mining laws) to the business.
- Ensure working capital and cash management processes are tightly managed and that cash flow targets are set and achieved.
- Obtain financing solutions to support operations including raising financing, managing debt and related covenants.
- Manage and assess hedging requirements of the relevant Business Units, including foreign exchange and interest risk needs and exposures.
- Develop and foster good working relationships with relevant tax authorities, government bodies, industry bodies or organizations, external banks, other financial institutions, auditors and other related parties.
Risk management and insurance:
- Establish insurance risk policy and procedures, monitor insurance risk and prepare summary of insurance cover/gaps;
- Manage the annual insurance program renewal and ongoing maintenance of the program, taking into account business needs, limits and practices;
- Oversee review, monitoring and addressing relevant business and financial risks.
Other:
- Adhering to and enhancing internal controls and liaising with the internal audit;
- Assist in strategy formulation;
- Development and monitoring of short term and long-term business plans;
- Assist in the implementation of procedures to improve operational efficiencies;
- Any other responsibilities not specifically listed but falling within the general scope of commercial, accounting, audit and taxation.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field;
- Commercially focused qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc.) with at least 10 years’ relevant experience of which at least 5 years’ experience gained in a similar or senior position in a multinational company;
- Significant experience in the resources sector is desirable;
- Strong commitment, leadership, management, interpersonal and influencing skills;
- Excellent English and Portuguese written and verbal communication skills;
- Team player capable of working effectively and productively with other managers across a diverse cultural environment;
- Experience of understanding and managing of financial and commercial issues in an operational and challenging environment of rapid growth;
