A DP World está a recrutar um (1) Electrician Assistant para Maputo.

Assist the Chief Electrician in supervising parts/maintenance of all designated marine engineering equipment to contribute to the smooth running of port operations. Also to assist the department as and when required.

Main Activities:

To carry out planned maintenance on all items of plant and equipment, maintaining the high standards set by DP World for both the safety and reliability of the organisation.
To carry out fault diagnosis on electrical, electronic and pneumatic controls of all equipment being maintained by the marine engineering department, to prevent accidents, thus contributing to a safe environment.
To select the right parts, and obtain technical information from the parts manufacturers and technical manuals for repair or fitting of damaged parts.
To perform duties without direct supervision on selected items of equipment when required, thus ensuring the smooth flow of marine operations.
To make critical work decisions in terms of coverage, repair methods and spare parts requirements, thus ensuring there is no waste of time or resources.
To diagnose faults in equipment, with the aid of special tools and measuring equipment, i.e. pressure and temperature gauges, and micrometers, thus ensuring all equipment is in working order and available when required.
Ensure that Tugboats are always well maintained and clean to allow for immediate use
Provide towing assistance to vessels
Lay and maintain buoys as required
Maintain tug hooks in a manner to ensure their correct use during towing operations
Practice the effective and correct operation of fire prevention and oil pollution equipment to ensure effective firefighting during any emergency
Maintain logbooks, data entries and reports as required by P&O Maritime, Classification Society, National and International Maritime Laws
Fully understand the importance of inspections, maintenance, reporting and Tug Master responsibilities

Qualification and Experience:

Computer skills.
In addition to Portuguese, a good knowledge of English is required in order to read and understand instructions.
ITI certificate or Professional Training or Diploma in Mechanics.

The job holder will be expected to carry out maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair work on all floating plants, Fi-fi pump houses, sewage treatment plants and tanker berths. He will also be required to follow DP World’s health, safety and quality procedures in his work process.
